Marie Louise Kold – prizes

Over the past 25 years I have created a number of prizes tailor-made to different events and recipients in Scandinavia.

The Metal Prize (Plåtpriset) is a Swedish architectural award presented annually at the PLÅT conference to the architectural firm that has created a particularly innovative or outstanding building in which metal has played a central role in the façade.) Over the years that I have created this prize, it has been awarded to WHITE Arkitekter, Tengbom, Wingårdhs, Fojab, OKIDOKI, Förstberg Ling, Sandellsandberg, and others.

Best Malmö Ambassador (Bästa Malmöambassadör) – a prize awarded annually by Malmö Municipality. Starting in 2008, I made this prize for, amongst others: chef Tareq Taylor, record producer and musician Steve Angello, Regional Chief Physician Dr. Ola Björgell, the TV-series BRON (The Bridge), businessman and investor Petter Stordalen, World Maritime University President Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, and others. Many of these works were custom made for their recipients, in the cases when the winner was known and disclosed to me well in advance. For example, the artwork for Tareq Taylor was partially patinated using lemon juice and salt and the artwork for Steve Angello included etched extracts of his lyrics and flower shaped of copper and etched in brass as references to his two daughters’ names.

The Danish Industry Initiative Award (DI’s Initiativpris) is an annual prize given by the. It honors companies that show exceptional entrepreneurship, creativity. I made this prize in 2010 when it was presented by HRH Prince Joakim, to Gram & Juhl A/S.
