Marie Louise Kold works with metal ... intransigent and cold in its base essence, but warm and colorful and a valid carrier for emotions at the end of the processes she passes the material through.
Marie Louise Kold works with a lot of the traditional techniques used by printers, etchers and engravers, but the metal itself becomes the work of art since it's never used for printing. Copper, brass and bronze are given depth and dynamism through etching and patination with acids.
Her portraits are made of thousands of squares. The softness and character of the face are rendered in metal and brought to life by the patination which not only changes depending on angle and light, but also touch and time.
